Prevention and Wellness
This service includes an exhaustive review of medical and family history for early identification of risk factors in addition to state-of-the-art testing. The testing offered includes fractionated lipid testing to identify in detail the components of the "good" and "bad" cholesterol. Screening of the heart using the extremely low x-ray Electron Beam Tomography and, advanced ultrasound for early detection of atherosclerotic disease in the head, abdomen and extremities.
Diagnostic Testing
Our cardiologists offer advanced diagnostic testing in their offices so that you can receive your tests in the same comfortable environment where you are accustomed to seeing your physician. These tests may include, Nuclear Imaging to better understand how well the heart muscle is pumping blood and whether the heart has any damaged muscle as well as using ultrasound or an "Echocardiogram" to evaluate the valves and chambers of the heart. Depending on your symptoms or risk factors, an electrocardiogram can tell your doctor about how the "electrical" part of the heart functioning.
Cardiovascular Angiography
Your physician may recommend an angiogram where a catheter is used to inject dye into the chambers of your heart or the arteries that supply blood to your heart. The test lets doctors measure the blood flow and blood pressure in the heart chambers and see if the coronary arteries are blocked. Angiography is also used to evaluate the blood flow to the other vessels of the body such as the head, abdomen and extremities. These tests are also performed in a specialized Heart and Vascular Centers located in Seattle and Bellevue.
Therapeutic Cardiovascular Procedures
The board certified specialists of Washington Heart Care bring a wealth of training and experience in providing therapies and procedures that help repair or limit progression of cardiovascular diseases. Procedures include the use of balloon angioplasty and drug eluting stents to improve blood flow, as well as the implantation of Electrophysiologic devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators to help the heart maintain a healthy rhythm. Your cardiologist at Cardiovascular Consultants of Washington will also work closely with a specialized surgeon should surgery be indicated.
